We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage our sales tax, credit card management, balance sheet reconciliations, and various reporting within the accounting department.

THE ROLE

  • TIMELY & ACCURATE FINANCIALS: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely general ledger that ties to subledger and/or source system(s). Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements. Book journal entries review accounts and reconcile balance sheet accounts timely and accurately. Review work of Staff Accountant(s) and partner with business partners to improve financial performance. Package monthly financial statements and supporting KPIs. Ensure that financial statements are easy to read and support future decision making by providing historical information, pointing out key areas of interest and telling the business story behind the numbers.
  • INTERNAL CONTROLS: Perform periodic audits and maintain documentation for internal controls. Execute internal controls as directed by the Controller. Work with business partners to train them on the why behind controls, understand any obstacles, and partner with them to overcome business and financial risks.
  • FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS: Calculate inputs for budget and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis on financial drivers. Perform periodic deep dives into financial performance and provide summaries of areas for improvement or further opportunity. Emphasis on job cost analysis. Provide pro forma financial statements upon request.
  • COMPENSATION CALCULATIONS: Partner with Payroll to ensure calculations are on time and accurate to ensure successful payout to employees. Serve as a back-up to the Financial Analyst in compensation calculations and review calculations on a weekly basis to ensure accuracy. Partner with other departments to establish alignment on bonus requirements and ensure proper calculations, communications, and timely remittance to payroll.
  • TAX FILINGS: Understand each tax filling requirement and ensure we are filing accordingly. Maintain appropriate documentation to set the organization up for success with tax compliance. Review tax filing work completed by Staff Accountant to ensure timeliness and accuracy.

    EXPERIENCE

    • KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience required. Cost accounting experience a plus!
    • SKILLS: Ability to collaborate with others with a “get it done” mentality, and jump in and learn systems through job shadowing and application.
    • ABILITY: Adaptable demeanor that can work to prove more in possible and challenge the status quo. All offers are contingent on submitting to and passing a thorough background check prior to starting. Ability to travel overnight 5 times per year, advanced notice is provided.
